Projects & Products
Welcome to my photo gallery. Here you'll find a few of my design projects,
as well as products I've used in some of my work. I have also provided links to many of the products you'll see here
to help you recreate "the look" in your own space, or maybe inspired to create a new look all your own.

Tiny Jewel Box Bath
They say good things come in small packages and that was very much the case for this gem of a bathroom project I had the pleasure of working on for a couple in Washington, DC. The rooms tiny footprint did not allow for a lot of extras, so I work with the client on keeping the lines clean and using bright and crisp colors. By using wall and floor tiles in different textures, but in the same color palette we were able to bring dimension to the space and created a spa like feel for the room.
Designer fun fact ~ I used to beautiful window treatment in this room from The Shade Store that allow for maximum light to enter the room from the top of the roman shade, while also providing privacy at the bottom of the window.
Designer not so fun fact ~ during demo of this bath we did not capture one before photo which NEVER HAPPENS
...trust me I am sick about that.

DC Modern
Design is not just a creative art, but it's a true study in spatial awareness. I designed this kitchen for a lovely family in Washington, DC. Their open minded approach to the project allowed me to literally take down walls and give them a bright, open space with clean modern lines.
Designer fun fact ~ I used a custom order square crystal doorknob in this space ...it's the little things that make a room. You can find details on the doorknob in the "Tools Of The Trade" section of this page |
Formal & Fabulous
In this formal dining room, living room and library, I used rich classic colors and textures to compliment the grand style of the home. I also had the chance to work with one of my favorite master craftsmen to reupholster
the client's many antique family heirloom furnishings. The final result is a timeless, elegant space.
Designer fun fact ~ This home boasts over 15 stunning crystal chandeliers.

Tiny Budget ~ Big Style
As a designer, I believe that everyone should have a beautiful space in which to live and work.
As a lifestyle specialist, I feel acquiring space that is both beautiful and functional is achievable at just about any budget.
My client for this project was a full-time working student in her 20's. After saving for months for this project, she
hired me to turn what was just a place for her to sleep and eat, into a fun, organized space to call home.
Designer fun fact ~ I created lots of hidden storage for this client's beautiful shoe collection.

I Make House Calls
As a regular contributing designer to The Washington Post - House Call section, I get the pleasure of designing space for their readers who submit rooms that offer a unique set of design challenges. Designing these rooms allows me to stretch my creativity and give the client new ways to look at their current space.
Designer fun fact ~ My idea to offer virtual design services came from designing projects for House Call.

A New Nook
This WP-House Call client wanted a cozy, contemporary breakfast nook where they could eat, use their laptops, and play board games. They also love mosaics and wanted to incorporate it in the design.
I went bold with this dramatic mosaic wall with the option of creating it with paint for a less permanent treatment.
Design challenge ~ The client wanted an updated replacement for their swivel chairs that did not look like outdoor furniture...not easy to find. I found a beautiful replacement in coffee brown leather, and yes they swivel.

Crayons to Calculus
When I received this WP-House Call project and saw how small the footprint was for this room, I knew my design skills would be put to the test. The client wanted something that would take their daughter's once tiny nursery, to a room that would take her through grade school. The final result is a bright, functional space
that the client loves and will grow with their daughter.
Designer fun fact ~ This room also has a ceiling that slopes at one end of the room
which added even more of a challenge to designing this space.

Loads of Style
When the editor at WP-House Call saw my final design for this space she said "...I want a laundry room like this!"
This one belongs to a large, active family that needed their laundry room to
doubled as a functional entryway for coats, shoes, backpacks and sports equipment.
Designer fun fact ~ I used a super thin grout line in blue that picks up the wall color,
and that looks wonderful against the charcoal gray colored floor tiles.

Tools of the Trade
Shopping is a big part of design work. I spend countless hours looking for just the right items for my clients' projects. Here are a few of my favorite products and links on where you can find them.
Keep in mind retailers often change their product line. If you can't find the exact item shown,
browse the internet or your local retail shops to find something that comes close to the style you're looking for.
I am always updating this section, so check back often to see new ideas for your space.
Designer Tip ~ Once you determine the general shape, size and color of the
item you're looking for, keep an open mind on the style, you may discover something beautiful and unexpected.
